Expecting Mothers & Parenting
Congratulations!
You are expecting and whether this is your first, second or third pregnancy, the last complication you need is a toothache.
We recommend regular dental checkups during your pregnancy. This is a time when your body undergoes many changes and some of them have an impact on your oral health. Pregnancy gingivitis (sore and bleeding gums) is one of the most common oral consequences associated with pregnancy – the best prevention is seeking regular dental cleanings during your pregnancy.
First Trimester
Please inform your dental professional of your pregnancy, to ensure that no dental x-rays are acquired.
Second Trimester
This is the best time to see your dentist for a checkup and cleaning, as well as complete any outstanding treatment such as fillings.
Third Trimester
Dentistry should be your last priority while you are getting ready for your delivery. Our dentists and their staff will ensure that your oral health is maintained during the first two trimesters. Congratulations!
Nursing
Should you have a dental emergency after you deliver, please book an appointment to see your dentist, who can prescribe medication or render treatment that will have no affect on you, or your nursing infant.
