Emergency Dental Care

Dental Tools in Pocket

Dental emergencies do happen and are not only limited to tooth aches. Even in the presence of regular dental care and checkups, teeth can fracture, abscess and require additional attention.

Our practice maintains the philosophy that patients with a dental emergency will be seen by our doctors in 24-48 hours.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants

Dental implants are excellent and predictable long term solutions for a missing tooth, a few missing teeth, or as anchors for dentures (plates). A dental implant is a titanium post that your dental surgeon inserts to replace the root of a missing tooth; with proper healing a tooth can be placed on top of the implant without the need to involve the adjacent teeth (as would done with a traditional bridge treatment).

Our dental surgeons have received extensive training in the field of implant dentistry and bone grafting and continue to expand their surgical expertise by attending seminars, conferences and courses.

Talk to us about dental implants at your next checkup.

Crowns & Bridges

Dental Crowns

Teeth that are heavily restored, fractured, or in many cases have been previously root canal treated should be crowned (or capped). A crown is a laboratory-fabricated tooth that is permanently glued over your natural tooth. Crowns increase the lifespan of your teeth, lower complications related to tooth fractures, and in many cases provide a very esthetic and natural look to your smile.

We are proud to offer our patients a 5-year warranty on any fixed laboratory prosthetics, including crowns, bridges and dental implants.

We are also offering same-day crowns for patients who are deemed to be good candidates.

Children’s Dentistry

Child Dentistry

Children are very special in our practice and baby teeth aren’t just baby teeth.

We recommend that every child, whether experiencing dental problems or appearing orally healthy be brought for their first dental checkup by the age of 3.

Baby teeth are more susceptible to dental decay than their adult successors. Striving to maintain healthy primary (baby) teeth will in many cases lead to a healthy and esthetic smile in adolescence and adulthood.

Wisdom Tooth Removal

Wisdom Tooth

Most people have experienced the pain and discomfort associated with an impacted, erupting, infected or decayed wisdom tooth. If your jaw does not provide enough room for your third molars to erupt, the wisdom tooth becomes impacted and depending the nature or degree of impaction, can cause the following problems: pain, discomfort, inflammation and infection, damage to the second molar (which in many cases will lead to irreparable damage and tooth loss) and even cyst formation, which in rare cases can lead to a benign tumour called an ameloblastoma.

Even erupted wisdom teeth, if not aligned properly or covered by gums could be recommended for selective removal.

If you are considering orthodontic treatment, consider a consult regarding the impact of your wisdom teeth on your braces with our dental surgeons.

Sedation Dentistry

Sedation

Research indicates that as much as 1/3 of the adult population is “deadly afraid” of the dentist. Fortunately, dentistry has changed so much over the last decade with respect to making dental treatment and surgery comfortable and minimally discomforting.

Our dental surgeons are trained in and offer all levels of sedation (sleep) dentistry. Services include nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral sedation (pill or cocktail) and general anaesthesia.

Orthodontics

braces

As your children move through adolescence, their teeth may develop and align improperly, causing an unpleasing smile and even possibly placing teeth at a higher risk for dental decay and/or gum disease.

Our dental professionals would be glad to talk to you and your children about the benefits of orthodontic treatment, whether performed in our office or at the specialist’s.

Dentures

Dentures

Dentures or plates, whether complete or partial, are used to replace missing teeth, regain chewing function and enhance the esthetics of a smile. Although they were used more widely in the past, denture wearers should maintain regular dental checkups and consider utilizing dental implants to increase their satisfaction rates. Dental implants can secure partial and complete dentures, significantly improve chewing function and improve your quality of life.

Root Canals

Root Canal

Root canals are common procedures and are almost always covered by your insurance, should you have access to coverage.

When teeth have extensive decay/cavities or large fractures (that are near or involving the nerve of the tooth) they may be subject to having root canal therapy. Teeth that abscess (become infected as a result of a large cavity/large filling or a traumatic injury or fracture) are recommended for root canal treatment, if they are good candidates.

A root canal procedure is generally no different than getting a filling done, however depending on the amount of infection or the complexity of the root canal anatomy, the procedure may take up to 2 visits to complete.
